![]() ![]() Altho the final polish on my rifle's receiver is very nice overall, they kinda fudged the contours of the buttsocket which looks like they ground a bit more metal off both sides of the socket than what one usually observes leaving a slightly flattened effect in comparison to other No.4 rifles I have in my collection. ![]() ![]() Rifle is still fitted out with early features such as hinged upper band, Enfield proofed No.4 trials mushroom head cocking piece, and "SM" marked waisted front sight protector. Don't believe this to be a poorly stamped date marking due to location and crisp appearance. Interesting! My BSA Shirley is serial number 611 no prefix (numbers individually hand stamped per Krinko's example), "B" marked, and bears only last two digits of date viz "41" immediately to the right of the "B" marking. ![]()
